Old Cypress Adventure in The Green Swamp Wilderness Preserve
Переглядів 2479 годин тому
Let's take a hike into the Green Swamp Wilderness Preserve to an ancient Cypress Tree still standing along the banks of the Withlacoochee River. At one time this river and wilderness was covered with old growth Cypress trees until the logging boom during the 1800's and early 1900's. Many of the trees were cut down during those times and they were hundred and thousands of years old. If you look ...

Out here in Goethe State Forest exploring the woods, so much to see here in this wilderness. I went off the beaten path and discovered where a possible homestead site may have existed here in the past. I could observe some overgrown pathways around the area probably old roads used to get out here at one time. It’s nice to follow them to see where they lead. Along the way I discovered what an ap...

Cemetery and Homestead Adventure in Ocala National Forest

Exploring in Ocala National Forest where an active cemetery and homestead used to be, today now abandoned reclaimed by nature. As I hiked around the woods here I could see remnants from the family who once lived here, it was a large area. They had a family cemetery close by which still remains. I was glad to see the cemetery still kept up for the most part although there has been signs of negle...

Exploring at an area within Flying Eagle Preserve where I came across some interesting history. It could be a homestead site possibly or remains of a hunting camp. I’m not positive but it’s really neat to see the history still out here, it makes you curious about the place and the memories that must’ve been made here. It’s all apart of the adventure and nature has a way of opening up the past b...

There used to be a huge number of ducks wintering there. Then they killed off all of the vegetation and the lake turned florescent green and the wildlife left. There were also many eagles spending time there and they went to find new homes. Still a peaceful place to visit but a shadow of its past.

I worked as a Park Ranger at Hillsborough River State Park and I live only 6 miles or so from where you are. The park was a county park for years owned and operated by Hillsborough County Parks...For some reason, the county closed the park but because it is adjacent to HR State Park, the state took it over....However, you cannot drive to where you are walking. It is a park and walk only, so the park is just "reclaimed to nature" by design...Also the State of Florida and specifically its HRSP park management liberal stupidity acts like this park is just an unmentioned annoyance. If they opened the road and allowed camping, it would be great...They way it is now is the way that the former HRSP Oregon-living hippy styled Park Manager wanted it all along....To be honest, he would have preferred if no one was allowed in the park whatsoever except his burn crews for controlled burns...He was instrumental in shutting the pool down in the main park, the snack bar. primitive camping, etc...All because of "covid"....This goofball park manager would hide and try to catch staff without their mask on outside and closer than six feet and then scream at you for not "social distancing"....The most retarded shit I have ever witnessed as a grown adult. Shameful that Desantis had people like that working for him ruining the park under the guise of "covid". Anyway, nice video.

Questions 1. If the brick foundation is the location of the Drew mansion why do all the photographs and earlier drawings depict a house raised up, presumably for air circulation, and no brick foundation.? 2. I’m presuming the Cemetery is named, Drew Family Cemetery. I’m having troubles finding that on Find a Grave. 3 Were there any signs of a slave graveyard? 4. history says the estate was off of HILL Road. Were there any remnants of paved road, the reason I know it might’ve been paved is that my great uncle Winder Hillman, who the graffiti Bridge was named for, is credited for the road, constructions roads all around Suwannee County Please let me meet you out there if you return. And hopefully you will return because a bigger mystery would be to find my great uncles house that was at the end of Hill Road. He affectionately named his estate, Hillmonia.
